The Manual of Gun Fu is a living document, and is typically revised on an annual basis.  It consists of two fundamental sections, the General Manual, and the Appendices.  Historically, the Manual came first, and served as a general training guide.  In the old days, each student was required to document everything he or she learned in the classes.  By the time students tested for Black Belt, some had compiled textbooks with hundreds of pages of notes.  These exhibits were inspected by the examining board as one of the criteria for promotion.  Nowadays, some schools have drifted form this requirement.  To ensure some degree of consistency in the transmission of knowledge, Appendices began to form, and one by one, they became attached to the Manual.  The process continues, so expect to see more over time.
